EUROPEAN MOUNTAIN PILOTS is a federation that includes national mountain pilots associations and groups of France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Austria, Luxembourg and Germany.
EMP was founded in 1991 in Clacton-on-Sea by French and Italian mountain pilots associations, to create a link between the various countries where mountain flying is practised.
Â
Mountain flying is a discipline that originates from the use of light airplanes for commercial and rescue operations in the Alps during the 50’s of the previous century.

Today is an aeronautical sport practiced by those pilots who love being in contact with nature and mountains.
Flying into the valleys requires specific and constant training.
The discipline reaches it’s apex in landing on slopy unaccessible spots, like hillsides and glaciers. Throughout the years also specific mountain airports have been created, they are called altiports.
Mountain flying is an engaging and fascinating experience that gives real emotions.
